Itinerary
Day One:
It’s a hot time in the city as we are welcomed to New York City! The media capital of the world and largest metropolitan area in the country, it is a place of relentless energy burning with world-class attractions and experiences. Upon arrival at the airport our tour guide and motorcoach will greet us and we will travel to our hotel to freshen up before dinner at one of New York’s many restaurants. This evening our entertainment will be the most spectacular show in town – the nighttime vistas of New York City from the observation deck of the Empire State Building, the tallest skyscraper in NYC and temporary home to King Kong. At 5th & 34th Streets, this stands as New York’s most famous fixture – starring in over 90 movies, a star of gigantic proportions (An Affair to Remember or Sleepless in Seattle)!!(D)
Day Two:
Today, we will enjoy a tour of New York City complete with Times Square, Central Park, Fifth Avenue, Museum Mile and have a chance to see the wonderful places we have all seen and heard about. See St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Rockefeller Plaza, home of the world famous skating rink visited by more than half a million people every year. Then take time for reflection and observation at Ground Zero! We will enjoy a luncheon at Tavern on the Green in Central Park. With all its glitter and wonderful cuisine in a park like setting, it’s a memory in the making and a great place for a group photo. The day isn’t over yet – a wonderful offering in the Theatre District with a Broadway Play or Musical. (B, L)
Day Three:
Our morning begins with a ferry ride to the Statue of Liberty where we will view France’s gift of International Friendship to the US. Next to the flag, it’s America’s most famous symbol for freedom – an icon for the immigrant. Here we will get a wonderful up close and personal view of the Lady as she has stood in New York Harbor, since 1886. We will continue to Ellis Island where over 100 million can trace their immigrant roots. Between 1892 and 1954, 12 million immigrants entered the United States through this door and began their journey in this brave new world. See & hear what coming to American meant through film, archive photos and recordings in the Great Hall. An exciting attraction in itself! We will continue to South Street Seaport at Pier 17. Located down Fulton Street this maritime museum reflects New York City’s past glory as a port town. As you walk along the cobblestone streets, you will see the magnificent ships moored here. The shops and restaurants, the street performers “buskers” will entertain you. And from the end of Pier 17 one of the most striking views of the Brooklyn Bridge is available. We will enjoy dinner this evening at another of New York City’s restaurants.(B, D)
Day Four:
Rise and shine for our morning adventure to Times Square where we will be a part of the studio audience on Good Morning America waving to those back home, so bring your banners and your best hellos. It’s definitely been a “New York minute” as we realize it is time to depart for our trip homeward bound. Taking with us many wonderful memories of our adventures we will be in a New York state of mind for a long time to come. (B)
